BROOK SPELTZ, Cello

Brook Speltz has earned wide acclaim as one of the most versatile cellists of his generation - equally at home in the intimate world of chamber music, the solo spotlight, and the electric energy of a rock stage. A Los Angeles native, he is cellist of the internationally acclaimed Escher String Quartet, an artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and a founding member of the Manhattan Chamber Players. First Prize winner of the prestigious Ima Hogg Competition, he has appeared as soloist with the Houston Symphony, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, and New York Youth Symphony at Carnegie Hall, and has been personally invited by Itzhak Perlman and Richard Goode to collaborate on chamber music tours nationwide. The Escher Quartet has toured five continents, with highlights including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Konzerthaus, London's Kings Place, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and Auditorium du Louvre, as well as major North American festivals from Aspen to Ravinia to Santa Fe. Speltz has also toured extensively with Break of Reality, the cello rock band whose Game of Thrones cover became a viral phenomenon with over 27 million views. He studied at the Curtis Institute with Peter Wiley and at the Juilliard School with Joel Krosnick, and performs on a 1857 J.B. Vuillaume cello.
