Eric Auerbach
American-born violinist Eric Auerbach began his musical journey near Boston, honing his craft at the New England Conservatory pre-college. He furthered his studies at Indiana University (B.M.), San Francisco Conservatory (M.M.), and Mount Royal University under the guidance of esteemed mentors Bill Van der Sloot, Ian Swensen, and Kevork Maridirossian.
Very early in his musical career, Eric was inspired by the Colorado Quartet, who he worked with closely over several summers. His passion for playing chamber music led to other opportunities to collaborate with esteemed chamber musicians such as Joel Smirnoff, Mark Sokol, Shmuel Ashkenasi, and members of prestigious string quartets like Pacifica, Rolston, St. Lawrence and Takacs String Quartets.
Eric has participated in renowned festivals across the United States and Canada, including the Ravinia Festival, Castleton Festival, Centric Music Festival, and Miami Music Festival. Eric's talent garnered recognition, winning first prize at the 2016 Canadian National Music Festival in both solo and chamber music categories.
Eric's orchestral experience began with the Boston Youth Symphony, touring Germany and the Czech Republic. Since then, he has graced stages with various orchestras across the United States and Canada, sharing the spotlight with acclaimed artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Anna Netrebko, and James Ehnes.
Most recently, Eric joined the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra as a full-time member of the first violin section. Alongside his orchestral commitments, Eric maintains a dynamic career encompassing solo performances, chamber music, and teaching. He currently leads violin masterclasses at the Mount Royal University Conservatory’s Academy program for gifted youth, nurturing the next generation of talented musicians.
