ZOLTÁN FEJÉRVÁRI, Piano

Zoltán Fejérvári has emerged as one of the most intriguing and exciting pianists among the new generation of Hungarian musicians - an artist whose playing is described as "multi-layered and precise, requiring full concentration on the part of the audience" with every note carrying "its own particular dynamic, character, and expression" (Kulturvollzug). Born in Budapest in 1986, he studied with Dénes Várjon, András Kemenes, and Rita Wagner at the Franz Liszt Academy. Winner of the 2017 Concours Musical International de Montréal and recipient of the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, Fejérvári has appeared in recitals throughout the Americas and Europe, at venues including Carnegie Hall, Place des Arts, the Gasteig in Munich, and the Liszt Academy. His recordings have earned widespread critical praise: his debut disc Janáček was called "the most sensitive and deeply probative recording" of that composer's work by Gramophone, and his Schumann recording was described as playing "with great passion where necessary... truly authentic." He has performed with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer, and collaborated with Steven Isserlis, Gary Hoffman, and musicians from Marlboro. He has been mentored by Sir András Schiff and currently holds a professorship at the Hochschule für Musik FHNW in Basel.
